Who Are The Saints?

The St Edmunds Basketball Club (SEBC) commonly referred to as ‘The Saints’, is a large domestic basketball club located in Chirnside Park, 35kms east of Melbourne at the base of the Dandenong Ranges.

The club was formed and commenced competition in 1973 and has been a member of the Kilsyth & Mountain District Basketball Association (K&MDBA) during this time.

The Saints are one of the largest junior domestic clubs in the K&MBDA with over 800 playing members, the majority residing in the local areas of Mooroolbark, Lilydale, Chirnside Park, Croydon, Croydon Hills, Warranwood and Kilsyth. Some of these members even live further out in Coldstream, Yarra Glen, Mt Evelyn, Wonga Park and many towns throughout the picturesque Yarra Valley.

Catering for both boys and girls competitions, teams are fielded in all age groups from Under 7/8 Mini-ball, right through to the Under 21s, playing in the various grades of A, A Reserve, B, B Reserve and C. Many players from the club have progressed through to representative basketball with the Kilsyth Cobras, Ringwood Hawks and others, even representing Victoria in the National Championships.

Our Club Philosophy

The ‘Saints’ exist to provide a safe, happy and healthy sporting atmosphere for children and families, with the emphasis on the joy of competition rather than just winning, whilst providing quality leadership for the juniors in good teamwork and exemplary sportsmanship. The club strives to provide opportunities for girls and boys to develop their skills and to compete at a level of competition within their individual capabilities.
